My Aunt Matilda was so fond of the innovative Short Navy Military Jacket that Samuel Morse gave after he painted a portrait of her in 1859 that she took it to a seamstress to have a red one created. She said that the jacket is super comfortable and offers a new perspective on classic Victorian feminine jackets. Both jackets did have to be packed away for a few years due to the impending war, which was sad, but my Aunt Matilda was super happy when she was able to wear both jackets again without assumed stigma! These jackets are evoke both femininity and power!
